This guide will explain how to change the SSID/Network Name and WPA Key/Password for your wireless network. You will need to re-connect any devices with the new network name and password if you change these.


Changing Your Network Name for 2.4GHz Frequency

  1. Login to your Wireless Access Point.
  2. Click the Wireless tab.
  3. Click 2.4G Network on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click SSID Setup on the left-hand side of the screen.
  5. Fill in the new network name in the Rename SSID text field.


Changing Your Network Name for 5GHz Frequency

  1. Login to your Wireless Access Point.
  2. Click the Wireless tab.
  3. Click 5G Network on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click SSID Setup on the left-hand side of the screen.
  5. Fill in the new network name in the Rename SSID text field.


Changing Your Password/WPA Key for 2.4GHz Frequency

  1. Login to your Wireless Access Point.
  2. Click the Wireless tab.
  3. Click 2.4G Network on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click Security on the left-hand side of the screen.
  5. Select the Use Custom Security Key option.
  6. Enter your new password in the Use Custom Security Key text field.


Changing Your Password/WPA Key for 5GHz Frequency

  1. Login to your Wireless Access Point.
  2. Click the Wireless tab.
  3. Click 5G Network on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click Security on the left-hand side of the screen.
  5. Select the Use Custom Security Key option.
  6. Enter your new password in the Use Custom Security Key text field.


Choosing a Wireless Name
When choosing a new Wireless name or SSID, you should consider the following:

  • Avoid using personal information in your wireless name (e.g. Your address, name or other identifiable details).
  • Ensure you have used a unique name from the surrounding wireless networks.



Choosing a Password

When choosing changing your password/security key, ensure:


  • Your password is at least  8 characters long.
  • You use at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one numeric character (0-9) and one punctuation symbol.
  • You avoid words found in a dictionary, personal information, keyboard patterns (e.g. qwerty or 12345) and passwords with repeating characters (e.g. sss111).
